Örnsköldsvik company BAE Systems Hägglunds' Indian partner company is close to an agreement on tracked vehicles with the Indian army, writes Dagens industri.

Hägglunds signed in 2023 a partner agreement with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in India regarding licensed production of the tracked vehicle BvS10.

The Indian customer and L&T are in final negotiations and the deal is expected to be completed in the near future, says Hägglunds sales manager Peter Nygren to Di.

L&T will use Hägglunds technology to manufacture the tracked vehicle. Initially, it is about a contract for 18 vehicles, but with potential to be expanded to "many hundreds", according to Nygren.

BAE Systems Hägglunds, which manufactures the renowned combat vehicle 90, has tried to enter the Indian market for nearly nine years, according to the sales manager.

The Swedish company's order book is fully booked for many years ahead and at the end of the summer, the order value amounted to 80 billion kronor, writes Di.

A partnership in India is a way to meet demand and expand without disrupting the booked production in Europe.

It is a small contract to start with, but with potential to become as many tracked vehicles as possible just to India, says Nygren to Di.
