Häcken won the first meeting with Spartak Trnava in the Europa League qualifying first round with 1–0. Despite dominance from the Slovakian home team in the first half, it was Häcken who made the match's first and only goal when Severin Nioule kicked the ball in in the 63rd minute.
For Häcken, who have struggled with injuries during the spring, the concerns continued at the same time: previously injured Adam Lundkvist stepped off after fifteen minutes and Mikkel Rygaard was also forced to leave during the match.
The return match with Spartak Trnava – who came third in the Slovakian top league – is played at home in Göteborg on Thursday, July 17.
If the team wins the match, they will face Belgian Anderlecht in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
