The national plan aims, according to a press release, to "train the next generation" of workers in the green sector. Employment there is expected to double to at least 860,000 jobs by the end of the decade.
The initiative is driven by both government funds and private investments in renewable energy and nuclear power.
Among 31 prioritized professions, the demand for, for example, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and welders is considered particularly high.
The plan, which is described as the first of its kind, is to, through a clear employment goal, encourage the industry, the public sector, and educational institutions to together invest in the initiative for shortage occupations.
"Societies have long demanded a new generation of good industrial jobs. The employment boom in clean energy can respond to that call", says Energy Minister Ed Miliband in a comment.
