The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Our investments in defense are investments in our independence and the protection of our national dignity, says Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis when he describes the efforts before the Greek parliament, reports the newspaper Kathimerini.
Greece is one of the few NATO countries that have already reached the military alliance's goal of allocating at least two percent of GDP to defense for many years. Last year, they allocated 3.1 percent, which was the fifth highest figure in NATO behind Poland, Estonia, the USA, and Latvia.
According to the news agency AFP, the Greek plans include, among other things, a significantly expanded air defense.
