Among other things, Court of Appeal Councilor Lars Wallinder will be tasked with investigating whether a crime scene investigation should be carried out every time a woman is murdered, a proposal previously put forward by the Moderates.

We are talking about one of the most serious social problems of our time, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) at a press conference.

The investigation will also review the penalty scales for honour killings and unlawful persecution. The assignment also includes considering tougher penalties for rapes of the elderly and deciding whether the classification of particularly serious rape should be introduced.

The assignment will be finalised no later than September 2029, with an interim report due on September 3, 2027.
