”AI solutions will become increasingly important to meet the challenges of welfare, not least by cutting bureaucracy and freeing up more time for core operations”, says Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner in a written comment to TT.
He says further that ”Swedish companies need to be strengthened in the tough global competition and the public sector needs to get out of the exploratory stage in technology use”.
The Government and The Sweden Democrats are now presenting several proposals in the area.
For 2026, the Government allocates 479 million kronor in the budget and for the period 2027–2030 approximately 500 million kronor per year.
Among other things, an AI factory will be established at Linköping University, which established companies, startup companies and researchers will have access to. An AI workshop for the public sector will also be built up, where public actors can develop and share solutions with each other in a secure way.
