Digital powers of attorney for elderly relatives, underwater cables, and a citizen app - the government's new digitalization strategy, presented at a press conference, contains a long list of future changes. Five areas are specifically highlighted: Competence, Business, Administration, Welfare, and Connectivity (the structure for being connected).
We need to know what we want with digitalization, but also follow up our goals. Therefore, we need a comprehensive strategy, says Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner at a press conference.
Within, for example, competence, the government sees a requirement to help elderly without technical skills or habits get help from relatives with digital services, a form of digital power of attorney.
Everyone should be able to handle digital tools to be part of society.
Many become digitally excluded when they cannot log in to, for example, Bank-ID on their own. Now we want to investigate how we can increase the occurrence of powers of attorney to reduce digital exclusion.
Improve Quality
Within welfare, the government hopes that increased digitalization will improve quality and free up more time from administration for, among others, doctors and nurses who can then focus on patients.
The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority will also be tasked with broadly increasing Swedes' AI skills.
Within the administration area, a review of the country's authorities and old IT systems will be replaced. A citizen app will also be developed to "gather e-identification, mail, and contact with authorities".
The government specifically mentions the need to build out underwater cables in the Baltic Sea to "strengthen global connectivity".
AI is not a separate focus area in the new strategy, but rather something that should permeate all parts of the future.
