A total of 1.52 billion international tourist visits were recorded globally, up 4 percent from the previous year.
“Demand for travel remained high throughout 2025, despite high inflation in tourism services and uncertainty from geopolitical tensions,” the organization’s Secretary-General, Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, said in a statement.
Tourist visits increased particularly in Africa and Asia. In Europe, 793 million international tourist visits were recorded during the year.
“We expect this positive trend to continue into 2026 as the global economy is expected to remain stable and destinations that are still lagging behind pre-pandemic levels fully recover,” said Al Nowais.
