The 37-year-old will thus be Sweden's contribution to the record-breaking refereeing group, which consists of 52 main referees, 88 assistants and 30 video referees from 50 member countries, according to a press release from FIFA.
The selection has taken place over a three-year period and is based on quality and consistency in performances at the highest level, both internationally and nationally, FIFA says.
The 2026 World Cup will be the largest to date with 48 teams and 104 matches in three host countries.
The referees are gathering in Miami to prepare for the tournament. Glenn Nyberg will be joined by assistant referees Mahbod Beigi and Andreas Söderkvist at the tournament.
