As a result of Donald Trump's actions regarding Greenland and tariffs against Europe, and of ICE's actions in the US, more people have called for a boycott of this summer's World Cup in the country.
The German Football Association's vice president, Oke Göttlich, has expressed his sympathies for a boycott.
"Personally, I would advise against traveling to the United States, given the current situation in the country," Göttlich told German Sportschau.
Now the German Football Association is putting its foot down.
"Things like this should be discussed internally and not publicly," the federation writes in a statement, emphasizing that a boycott of the World Cup is not currently under consideration.
"We believe in the unifying power of sport and the global impact a World Cup can have."
