The Red Cross field hospital on the Gaza Strip has received more than 11,000 patients since it opened two months ago.
In total, 470 surgical operations have been performed at the hospital, and 80 percent of the operations have been for war injuries, writes the Red Cross to the Norwegian news agency NTB.
The healthcare system in Gaza is near breaking point, with large influxes of patients and shortages of both medicine and anesthesia.
The pressure on hospitals that can receive patients is very high, and after intense fighting, many severely injured patients often arrive in a short time, says Olav Aasland, who leads the work at the Red Cross field hospital, to NTB.
After the Israeli military ordered the evacuation of areas around the city of Khan Yunis earlier in July, patients and staff were forced to flee from European Gaza Hospital. Many then went to Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, which is also paralyzed.
