The Barcelona star injured her ankle in the Nations League win against Denmark last week, but it was announced the next day that she had not suffered a fracture.

On Monday, her club Barcelona announced that Rolfö had been affected by a damage to two ligaments in her left ankle.

At the same time, the big club announced that the Swedish national team "will be responsible for assessing her availability for play in the European Championship in Switzerland”.

When Barcelona met Atlético Madrid in the Spanish cup final on Saturday, Rolfö was seen on the spot with crutches and her left foot in a protective splint.

Peter Gerhardsson on Rolfös current status:

We don't really know, first of all it's a ligament injury. Our medical team needs to take a look at this themselves. In their case, when they looked at it, there is a hope and therefore we have taken her out. We may not know until early next week.

Fridolina is such an important player so we want to give her this chance and we will work hard to make sure she is available for the European Championship, adds Gerhardsson.

The European Championship in Switzerland will be held from July 2-27 and Sweden will meet Denmark in their first match on July 4.
