French tennis player Quentin Folliot has been banned for 20 years. According to tennis' anti-corruption agency, the 26-year-old was a central figure in a network of players who acted on behalf of a match-fixing syndicate.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) also fined Folliot over 650,000 kronor ($70,000). He must also repay over 400,000 kronor ($40,000) that he earned from match-fixing, the ITIA said in a press release.

Folliot's best career singles ranking is 488th place.

The investigation involving Folliot has previously led to five other players being suspended to varying degrees – from six weeks to over five years.

The Frenchman, who denied wrongdoing, was ultimately charged with 27 counts of violating tennis' corruption rules. This relates to a total of ten matches, of which Folliot himself played eight.

According to ITIA, the 26-year-old is alleged to have influenced the outcome of matches, accepted money to underperform and offered other players money to fix matches.
