A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's southwestern Samara region killed four people, the region's governor said on Saturday, while Ukraine reported that Russia had fired hundreds of drones overnight and that three people were killed.
It is with great sorrow that I announce that four people were killed in a hostile drone attack tonight, wrote Samara's governor Vyacheslav Fedorisjtjev on social media and added that one person was injured.
Russia reported that it shot down or stopped 149 Ukrainian drones overnight. 15 of them over the Samara region, about 80 miles from the front in Ukraine.
Moscow reports almost daily on downed Ukrainian drones. Kyiv claims that the attacks, which are often aimed at energy facilities, are retaliation for Russian bombings of Ukrainian cities.
