The former president is believed to have used the drones in 2024 to create reasons to declare martial law in the country, for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment earlier this winter.

Prosecutors believe that the drones endangered the country's security and were used to "fabricate warlike conditions." The drones, which later crashed, are also believed to have provided North Korea with information about South Korea's military capabilities.

A court in Seoul ruled in February that Yoon intentionally tried to "paralyze" the country's legislature by declaring martial law.
