For the second month in a row, food prices have remained stable, according to Matpriskollen, which continuously measures the prices of grocery chains.
The November survey shows, just like the previous survey for October, that food prices are stagnant. Even over six months, prices are unchanged.
"The feeling is still that many consumers believe that the price increases are greater than they actually are in recent months. They believe that it will only continue to rise as the increase is a full 29 percent since 2022," says Ulf Mazur, CEO of Matpriskollen, in a press release.
Few pickers
Berries, jams and marmalade became more expensive last month, which according to Mazur is due to the fact that there were too few berry pickers in Swedish forests during the autumn.
The price of beef rose by 1 percent in November and has risen a total of 12.1 percent over the past twelve months. Food Price Monitor also predicts that the price will continue its upward journey as demand is higher than supply.
The price of fruit fell 1.3 percent in November compared to the previous month, caviar became 0.6 percent cheaper and the price of coffee fell 0.4 percent.
Absolutely crazy
According to the Food Price Survey, this is partly due to a seasonal price drop, especially for citrus fruits, but one reason is also an ongoing price war between Willys and Ica Maxi, which has also spread to Lidl.
Among other things, you can buy a liter of milk from Garant for 8.90 kronor, macaroni for 8.50, ketchup for 17.90 and 400 grams of potato salad for 9.90 kronor, according to the survey.
"The prices are extremely low and they don't seem to be giving up. It's completely crazy," says Ulf Mazur.
