"The alarm system that many people heard was triggered by a fault during a test by the civil defense. There have been no incidents that pose a danger to the population," Oslo police wrote to Norwegian media.
The air-raid warning went off just before 8 a.m. in several locations in Oslo, as well as in Bærum and Drøbak. It only lasted a few seconds, and no public warning was given.
The news agency NTB has tried to get a comment from Norway's crisis management authority DSB and the Norwegian Civil Defense about the alarms, but they have so far not responded or been able to comment on the incident.
