+ Coach Carousel

Nine of the 20 teams have changed coaches ahead of the season. The question is who will be first to be fired? Pep Guardiola has left Manchester City and been replaced by Enzo Maresca, formerly of Chelsea. The London club, in turn, has appointed Xabi Alonso, formerly of Real Madrid. When Alonso was sacked by the Spanish giants last winter, he was replaced by Álvaro Arbeloa, who now coaches Fulham.

+ Pressure on Isak

The pressure is on the league's most expensive player, Alexander Isak, who was considered a flop signing by several pundits last season. The Swede, who suffered a serious injury last winter that kept him out of action for months, has a new coach in Andoni Iraola and is expected to lead Liverpool's attack now that Mohamed Salah has left to play in Turkey.

Viktor Gyökeres has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, with several clubs interested in the Sweden international. The striker's status in the Champions League is in question, especially after manager Mikel Arteta opted to bench him for this weekend's title clash against Manchester City.

There are several question marks surrounding Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall. The former has started training with the ball after the injury he suffered in April 2025. But Kulusevski still seems to be a bit away from match play.

For Bergvall, the situation is different. Early in the summer, The Athletic reported that he wanted to leave “Spurs” for more playing time. Since then, nothing has happened.

+ Billion-dollar acquisitions - a bubble?

Morgan Rogers cost 1.5 billion kronor when he signed for Chelsea from Aston Villa. Elliot Anderson went for the same price from Nottingham to Manchester City.

These are some of the billion-krona transfers this summer that made big headlines.

"Just because you've had a good season doesn't mean you're worth 1.5 billion. It's getting out of hand, it has to end," said Zlatan Ibrahimovic when he was a TV pundit during the World Cup.

+ Haaland in The Championship?

A few years ago, a 115-point investigation was launched after the Premier League suspected that Manchester City had violated the league's and UEFA's rules regarding Financial Fair Play.

The process has been going on for a long time but not much new has come out.

Several stars such as John Stones, Rodri and Bernardo Silva have left this summer. Also coach Pep Guardiola. Experts believe that it may be because a verdict is close. When the Premier League's chief executive Richard Masters was interviewed this week by Sky News he said:

It's nothing I can comment on, everything is confidential. We have to let the process continue but I understand that there is frustration that it has taken so long.

If City are found guilty, the punishment could range from a points deduction to forced relegation. The club could also be fined. In other words, there is a certain risk that Erling Haaland and City will play in England's second-highest league, the Championship - or in a lower league.

+ The rules in the Premier League - like in the World Cup

Most of the new rules are similar to those we saw at the World Cup, all aimed at preventing time-wasting. But the Premier League has taken it a step further, now also when it comes to goalkeeper injuries.

If a goalkeeper is injured, the coach must immediately designate a field player to leave the field for one minute. This means that the team will be reduced by one player when play resumes. The aim is to prevent tactical goalkeeper injuries that slow down the game or break the opponent's momentum.
