There is a risk of grass fires or forest fires throughout southern Sweden – from Skåne and up to northern Jämtland. In Gästrikland and Hälsingland, the rescue service had to respond and extinguish several fires during Saturday – many of which had spread from controlled fires, local media report.
For example, in Sandviken, a man is suspected of gross negligence after the rescue service had to extinguish a fire that had spread from a fire to a field, the police write on their website.
Now the rescue service is issuing a clear warning.
It's so incredibly dry. The weather is fine and it's probably tempting to do some gardening, but refrain from lighting fires, says Henrik Eriksson, alarm commander at Gästrike rescue service, to Hudiksvalls Tidning.
