The scammers continue to wreak havoc on social media or via phone. The list of unscrupulous companies is growing steadily, warns the Financial Supervisory Authority (FI)

”These actors are scammers who try to cheat consumers out of money", says Moa Langemark, consumer protection economist at FI, in a press release.

The authority has set up 40 new actors on its list that lack permission to offer financial services in Sweden.

In particular, FI sees a phenomenon that is increasing. It's about actors who want to help cheated customers get their money back, so-called recovery rooms, but they just cheat you out of more money.

”Recovery rooms are scam on scam. Consumers are cheated into paying even more money to scammers which is particularly ruthless as many victims are ashamed of being cheated and are eager to try to set everything right”, says Moa Langemark.
