It was at 01.20 on September 23, 2023, when large masses of earth suddenly moved at E6 near Stenungsund.

Several people were injured when the masses destroyed a stretch of several hundred meters of motorway and the surrounding area.

On Tuesday of next week, the accident commission will present its report on why the landslide occurred.

Three suspects

According to a draft of the report, which leaked earlier this year, excavated masses tipped east of E6 are pointed out as the cause.

Parallel to the accident commission's investigation, a criminal investigation is also underway, where three people are suspected of gross negligence, gross bodily harm and unauthorized environmental activities.

We have been waiting for this news, says prosecutor Daniel Veivo Pettersson.

We are far ahead in our investigation, but have been waiting for the report to be able to take the next step.

Decision in the fall

Whether there will be charges or not against the suspects is too early to say, according to the prosecutor. He expects to be able to make a decision after the summer.

It would be good if we could come to a decision in early fall. It will be two years in September and there are certain points to have it clear by then, he says.
