No away fans will be allowed into this season's bandy matches between Boltic and Västerås - for safety reasons.

Boltic is back in the elite league after 14 years. The last time they met Västerås, 15 years ago, things went off the rails in the stands and outside the arena in Karlstad.

"They (the supporters) had been to some driving range and stolen golf balls that they threw wildly, all the way over to the audience on the other side of the field. They broke cars and toilets. It was a hell of a circus," Boltic's security manager Thomas Martinsson told Expressen .

Martinsson says that the police have identified risks that make it impossible to hold this season's matches with away fans present - unless the clubs pay for a large number of security guards.

"There are companies in Värmland and Karlstad that are not interested in sports, they just want to come up with devil's stuff. They gravitate towards hockey, football, bandy and they are also in town," he says.

The teams will meet in Västerås on December 2 and in Karlstad on December 19.
