The last few days have made it extra clear.
After the system overhaul a couple of weeks ago for calculating electricity transmission between regions and between the Nordic countries, so-called flow-based capacity calculation, electricity area 2, southern and central Norrland, has emerged as the clear winner.
On Tuesday, the electricity costs on average almost two kronor per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in southernmost Sweden (electricity area 4). Electricity area 3 is not far behind, 1.35 kronor, while electricity area 2 has an average price of three öre/kWh. At the very top of the north, electricity costs 24 öre.
Before the pricing for Wednesday on the electricity exchange Nord Pool, the large price differences persist. Then, there are negative prices almost every hour in southern and central Norrland, while one kilowatt-hour of electricity costs 1.23 kronor on average in the southernmost part of the country.
In addition to the stock exchange price, the electricity companies' surcharges, electricity tax, VAT, and network fees are added, amounting to over one krona per kWh.
