Daily physical activity can reduce the risk of stroke after a heart attack, according to a Swedish study.

Effects are seen already at "moderate effort" in at least 30 minutes per day – for example, a brisk walk.

"The risk of stroke is two to four times higher early after a heart attack. That the increased risk was almost gone in those who were physically active almost every day is striking," says Adam Viktorisson, doctor and researcher at Sahlgrenska Academy, in a press release from Hjärt-Lungfonden.
