On Monday, Anna Breman, former Deputy Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, begins her five-year term as Governor of the Central Bank of Wellington, New Zealand.
According to her predecessor Christian Hawkesby, she inherits an economy that is on the path to a robust recovery while inflation returns to target.
"It's my gift to the incoming central bank governor," Hawkesby said in an interview last week after cutting the key interest rate to 2.25 percent.
He also said that he believes Anna Breman will do "a fantastic job."
And the economy is in an excellent position for someone to come in, said Christian Hawkesby.
Anna Breman becomes New Zealand's first female central bank governor and the first foreigner to lead it since Englishman Leslie Lefeaux was its first governor in 1934.
