Ewa Pajor: Poland's Top Threat Against Sweden in European Championship

Warning for Ewa Pajor. The Polish superstar is the big threat in the European Championship meeting with Sweden. She is probably the strongest "nine" in the world and was so the whole last season, says Magdalena Eriksson.

The blue and yellow center back laughs a little when someone in the Swedish press corps asks the leading question what is Poland's biggest threat.

Yes, it's Ewa Pajor. Absolutely, says Magdalena Eriksson.

It's not like you can answer anything else.

Throughout her entire career, the 28-year-old Pole has scored goals. Most recently in Barcelona, where Pajor became the top scorer in the Spanish league with 25 goals in her debut season.

"Very difficult to meet"

For Sweden, it will be key to stop the star striker in Luzern on Tuesday evening.

She is very difficult to meet, says Eriksson.

The best (for us) is when she has to work as much as possible defensively, that she has to waste energy there and doesn't have as much energy in her offense. But she is an incredibly fast player, so she hardly gets tired. I just think you have to be focused all the time when you lose the ball, then we know they will try to play (balls) long to her.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd is one who has recently been affected by Ewa Pajor's goal threat. The winger's Chelsea met Barcelona in the Champions League semifinal in the spring - and Pajor opened the scoring in both matches.

Above all, it's her speed. She has extreme speed when she plays - and she also has quality. Not everyone has that, she is extremely dangerous and a goal scorer, says Rytting Kaneryd.

Dangerous against Germany

In the European Championship premiere against Germany - Poland's first championship match ever on the women's side - Ewa Pajor also showed her danger. But no goals were scored then and the Germans won 2-0.

Poland will probably need to take at least a point from Sweden if the hope of advancing is to survive until the group stage finale on Saturday.

Sweden can at the same time, in the best case, secure a quarterfinal spot with a potential victory.
