Public and players agree – Europe's Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald must stay for two more years. He is the best captain ever, says Shane Lowry.

It was the Irishman Shane Lowry who made the decisive putt in the prestigious golf tournament against the USA. Europe won with 15–13 and with Luke Donald have won two consecutive Ryder Cup with the same captain – for the first time since Tony Jacklin in 1987.

And both players and supporters want him to continue. The Europeans in the audience chanted "two more years" as soon as Donald appeared and the players join in the tribute choir.

He is the best captain ever, the most incredible man in the world. Honestly, he has done the very best job, says Lowry who wishes that Donald continues over the next tournament, in his home country.

Let's do it again in Ireland.

Donald could not give any answer about the future directly after the dramatic victory on Bethpage outside New York.

The answer is that I will have fun tonight. I do not think my heart can handle two more years. We will see, he says.

One part of Donald's winning recipe on Bethpage was to only replace one of twelve players from the victory in Rome 2023 – the Dane Rasmus Højgaard got the chance instead of his twin brother Nicolai.

The European captain is also praised by the USA's captain Keegan Bradley, a friend of Donald.

I think he is Europe's best captain of all time. He has made the team an unstoppable force, says Bradley.

The USA's captain takes the blame for the loss on home ground.

I take the responsibility. I made some mistakes, says Bradley, who does not think he will get any new trust.

I will do everything to help the next captain.

The next Ryder Cup is played at the Irish Adare Manor in two years.
