In a fresh report from the EU's Court of Auditors, it is stated that the error level in 2024 was 3.6 percent. This is a good bit above the limit of 2 percent that is considered okay in this context - but still significantly better than the 2023 figure of 5.6 percent.
"A step in the right direction, but there are still far too many inaccuracies in the EU's costs", says the President of the Court of Auditors, Tony Murphy, in a press release.
The fact that something is noted as incorrect does not have to mean that it is about fraud or waste. Often, it is instead a matter of rules not being followed or reported in the correct manner.
