”Our agreement with Indonesia creates new opportunities for companies and farmers in a large and growing economy. This also provides us with a stable and predictable supply of necessary raw materials that are crucial for Europe's green technology and steel industry”, says EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in a press release.
The agreement means, among other things, that the export of goods from the EU, including cars and agricultural products, to Indonesia is simplified. According to the Commission, the agreement will save EU exporters 600 million euros per year, approximately 6.6 billion kronor.
Already in July this year, von der Leyen announced that the union and Indonesia had reached a ”political agreement” on free trade.
