A Russian citizen residing in Narva has been sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for espionage for the Russian intelligence service FSB, reports Estonian ERR.
According to the prosecution, the man established a relationship with the Russian FSB and continuously collected and transferred information to Moscow. The man is also accused of having transported and sold goods covered by the EU's sanctions in Russia.
The Estonian intelligence service states that the FSB often sees people crossing the Estonian-Russian border as potential recruits and advises people against traveling to Russia.
In recent months, similar espionage cases have led to the expulsion of two Russian citizens to Russia.
