England has taken a firm grip on a direct spot to the World Championship in football in North America next year. In an early group final against Serbia in Belgrade, it was an impressive 5–0 win – England's fifth straight three-pointer so far in the qualifying rounds.

The away team decided the match within three minutes in the first half when the team captain Harry Kane and the winger Noni Madueke scored a goal each in the 33rd and 35th match minute, respectively.

In the second half, both center-backs Ezri Konsa and Marc Guehi then put the ball in for England. The home team had Nikola Milenkovic sent off and Marcus Rashford established the final result at 5–0 in the end.

England leads qualifying group K with 15 points after 5 out of 8 matches. Albania, which defeated Latvia 1–0 at home in Tirana, is the new group two with 8 points ahead of Serbia with 7.

In qualifying group D, Iceland shocked France with their 1–0 goal after 20 minutes in Paris. The French, however, turned and won 2–1. Iceland had an equalizing ball in the net, but Andri Gudjohnsen's, son of the former football star Eidur, second goal in the match was disallowed after VAR review.

The World Championship will be decided in the USA, Mexico, and Canada between June 11 and July 19 next year.
