On behalf of the government, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has mapped out how the authorities can reduce their emissions in the second half of the year by converting vehicles, ships and work equipment to fossil-free alternatives - at an additional cost of SEK 239 million.
The amending budget for 2026 includes SEK 500 million to facilitate government agencies' transition to fossil-free alternatives. This will cover the additional costs that arise when fossil fuels are replaced.
The most common measure is replacing fossil diesel with biofuels.
The survey was based on the authorities that had reported the highest greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles and work equipment in 2024.
