Here are the key rules to follow:
- Wear a helmet if you're under 15, but it's recommended for all riders.
- No carrying passengers.
- Use lights at night and wear reflective gear.
- Ride cautiously and adjust speed according to road conditions.
- Don't ride on sidewalks or pedestrian paths.
- Park safely and avoid blocking traffic.
- Don't ride if you're tired, sick, or under the influence.
- Speed and Power Limits
If your scooter goes faster than 20 km/h or has more than 250 watts of power, it's classified as a moped, not a bike and can not be used on bike roads. Many imported electric scooters does not meet this criteria, so make sure to check the scooter's speed limit before buying it.
As the rider, you're responsible for ensuring your scooter meets the necessary criteria.
As of December 23, 2023, many electric scooters will require traffic insurance. Remember to prioritize your safety and the safety of others when riding an electric scooter in Sweden.
