An earthquake occurred on Friday evening west of Skellefteå. The magnitude was measured at 2.5 on the Richter scale, according to the Swedish National Seismic Network (SNSN).
Around fifty reports of tremors have been received from the surrounding area.
"I just felt that it shook in our entire house", writes a reader to the newspaper Norran.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 16 kilometers and is said to be the second largest in Sweden this year, only an earthquake in Vänern in February was larger, with a magnitude of 3.3.
The earthquake probably occurred in the Röjnor fault, which is one of the two major postglacial faults in the Skellefteå area.
