The world's best athlete barely knows what to do with all the awards.
He received another award, this one a glass bowl, when he gave another acceptance speech as Athlete of the Year at the Athletics Gala at Berns on Tuesday evening.
24 hours later, the pole vaulter is the favorite for three more awards, including Male Athlete of the Year, Performance of the Year and the Jerring Prize.
But nothing would beat accepting the award as Leader of the Year on behalf of his mom and dad.
Your proudest moment?
Yes. I am grateful for all the awards I receive, but I don't need any more awards, Duplantis says.
No match yet
Despite Olympic and European Championship gold, World Indoor Championship gold and three world records, the enormous achievements in 2024 were not enough to win the Jerring Prize a year ago.
In popularity with the Swedish public, he was beaten by table tennis star Truls Möregårdh.
A new duel may be in store. The two have something to talk about. They are sitting at the same table in the Avicii Arena. Maybe they can also settle that ping-pong match they talked about last year.
It hasn't happened. I don't know if I want to play ping-pong against him; I'd rather play someone who is at the same level as me, Mondo says, laughing.
How do you view the chance of winning the Jerring Prize a second time?
It is what it is, honestly. A huge honor if I get it. Wonderful, but we'll see. If people don't vote for me then... there are many others who deserve it as much as I do, he says.
Vote for Ståhl
Daniel Ståhl is one of three athletes who can be voted the people's favorite late tonight. With a powerful final throw measuring 70.47 meters, he won World Championship gold in Tokyo.
Duplantis knows who he would vote for.
Daniel. It was a very strong memory for me, the last attempt. It's something special. He'd had a tough period before and was very strong mentally. He had ice in his veins.
Daniel Ståhl himself does not dare to speculate on how highly this achievement is valued before the Sports Gala.
It's the people's award. It would be fun to win it, an honor, but it's really difficult.
He believes all eight candidates have a chance.
There are so many sharp performances. Even among those who are no longer candidates. 2025 was a fantastic Swedish sports year.
Eight candidates remain to be voted on as winners of the 2025 Jerring Prize:
Andreas Almgren, athletics.
Ebba Andersson, cross-country skiing.
Armand Duplantis, athletics.
Mjällby, football.
Truls Möregårdh, table tennis.
Jenny Rissveds, mountain bike.
Daniel Ståhl, athletics.
Jonna Sundling, cross-country skiing.
