Every year, it involves between 5,000 and 6,000 people in Sweden, reports P4 Halland. The group also includes people who have had their driving license revoked due to dementia or severe mental disorder.

One does not want to be served a revocation of one's driving license, because then one can continue driving as if nothing has happened, says Hans Qvant, group leader of the traffic police in Halland, to the radio.

Ted Snölilja, investigator at the Transport Agency, describes it as a loophole in the system.

There are so many that it is a problem, because these can be people who are obviously dangerous in traffic, he says to the radio.
