It was with hit songs like "Mr Tambourine man", "Blowin' in the wind" and "The times they are a-changing" that Dylan broke through in the 1960s.
In total, about 50 memorabilia items – such as photographs, posters, and sketches – from the legend's life and career will go under the hammer at the auction on January 18.
Another treasure is an oil painting, signed and dated August 1, 1968, valued at between 200,000 and 300,000 dollars.
The collection has belonged to the American rock journalist Al Aronowitz, who often got close to the artists he wrote about.
The "Mr Tambourine man" draft was written by Dylan one evening at Aronowitz's kitchen in New Jersey, while he was chain-smoking and listening to Marvin Gaye to get in the mood, according to the auction house.
