Several FIFA members have expressed concern about the high costs of the World Cup and said they risk making a loss because of their participation.
FIFA has now decided to significantly increase the compensation. Each of the 48 qualified teams will now receive $2.5 million - approximately SEK 23 million - to cover ancillary costs instead of the previously set $1.5 million.
In addition, the payment for qualifying for the tournament, which this year is being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be increased from $9 million to $10 million.
"FIFA is proud to be in its strongest financial position ever, which allows us to support all our member associations in an unprecedented way," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
The total compensation to the teams now stands at $871 million.
The Swedish Football Association expects to send a delegation of around 60 people, including 26 players.
