Police in Ribe, Denmark, raided the woman's home after a tip, reported the Ritzau news agency.
"We take all reports of violations of the Animal Welfare Act seriously. In this case, we were able to determine that there were far more adult dogs than allowed at the location," said Kent Brynilsen, deputy police inspector with the South and South Jutland Police.
According to Brynilsen, the animals lived in substandard conditions. Several had to be euthanized, either due to inbreeding or because their condition was too poor. However, most were able to be taken to a kennel where they received vaccines and other treatment.
The 58-year-old woman was reported to the police after the discovery. She is now suspected of violating the Animal Welfare Act.
Several of the dogs will be adopted by new owners.
