A 29-year-old Danish man was convicted of participating in an attempted murder. The plan was for two Swedish girls to carry out the murder, but it failed.

"I knew there were two young Swedes coming to Denmark. I didn't know they were girls," the man said in court, according to the Ritzau news agency.

It was in June 2024 that the girls, aged 15 and 14 at the time, traveled to a town outside Herning in Jutland to kill a man in his home.

They were staying at the 29-year-old's home; he was abroad, so the girls were helped remotely when they had a problem with a cartridge in the gun they had with them.

However, the intended target was not at home, and the assassination attempt failed.

The 29-year-old, who has admitted his involvement, was sentenced to six years in prison by the district court in Herning.
