Swedes are behaving worse on flights, and drunkenness and disorder are becoming increasingly common. Before the pandemic, around 50 incidents were registered per year; in 2024 there were over 500, and this year the number looks set to be even higher, reports P3 Nyheter.

The worst example was when a Swedish charter plane had to make an emergency landing in Spain, says Johan Westin, flight inspector at the Swedish Transport Agency, to P3.

He is part of a national task force against disruptive passengers, which is now involving all stakeholders - such as check-in, security and restaurants - to put an end to the disruption. Ultimately, it is about flight safety.

We don't want messy passengers on board an airplane.
