The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency can delegate decision-making power to county administrative boards in those of Sweden's three so-called predator management areas where wolf numbers exceed the species' minimum level.

It now does so in the southern and central areas, and this right is therefore transferred to all county administrative boards there, except in Gotland County, where there are no wolves.

For the first time, the right is now granted for a period of three years. This is to give the county administrative boards “clarity and predictability” in wolf management, writes the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

In the northern administrative area, no minimum levels are set for wolves. Therefore, the requirements for transferring hunting license decisions are not met there, according to the agency.
