If Cornelia Kapocs was happy about her first national team call-up?
Check online, she tips.
Yes, there's a video of it, says the 24-year-old a bit embarrassed.
The Swede received the message from a teammate at the end of a training session, put her hands over her face, and was quickly surrounded by the other players' happy screams.
The group hug was filmed and has spread widely via Liverpool's social media.
I got very happy and moved. It's a lot of emotions, but a dream that comes true, says the former Linköping forward.
"Used U23"
Cornelia Kapocs, like many other national team players, has taken the path via the U23 national team.
It has been a highly conscious strategy, notes Peter Gerhardsson.
I think we've used U23 in a good way from day one. It's a very good match environment to play those matches and to start there, he says.
During the ongoing national team window, the U23 national team's head coach Martin Qvarmans Möller has, among others, Arsenal star Rosa Kafaji – normally an A-national team player but in need of playing time – in his squad.
We talk to Martin about different players, including those who we think are close to the A-national team. It's a good environment there, says Peter Gerhardsson.
The same applies to the F19 national team, he continues, mentioning as examples Häcken forward Felicia Schröder and Hammarby talent Smilla Holmberg, who are currently called up to the team.
Dreams of playing time
Cornelia Kapocs agrees.
She was, after all, at a training camp at the beginning of 2023, a camp for mainly Allsvenskan players and where no national team match was played.
But the big national team routine so far comes from the over 60 youth national team matches.
There has been a good transition from U23 to the A-national team. Much is the same and the game is similar, says Cornelia Kapocs.
I think it's extremely important, so it doesn't become a shock when you get to A.
Whether she'll get any playing time in the upcoming Nations League matches – against Italy in Stockholm on Friday and against Wales in Gothenburg next week – remains to be seen.
But dreaming is allowed, notes the 24-year-old.
You always want to play as a football player. So it's clear that the dream exists, she says.
