The former national security adviser Henrik Landerholm was acquitted last week in the district court after being prosecuted for negligence with secret information.
According to the prosecutor, much suggests that the case will be appealed, which must have been done by September 26 at the latest.
Will return with a message
In parallel with the case, the Constitutional Committee (KU) is examining the political developments and the measures taken by the Government Offices and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party).
On Thursday, the KU decided to postpone the examination.
As long as we do not have a legally binding judgment, we cannot make a decision on how to proceed with the examination, but we will return with a message after September 26, says Ida Karkiainen.
According to Karkiainen, no voices were expressed at the meeting to initiate the examination already now, everyone wants to await the legal assessment.
Can harm Kristersson
Political scientists have pointed out that the case continues to harm Ulf Kristersson, who employed the close friend Henrik Landerholm, and that it would be unfortunate for the government if the process drags on and continues into the election year. The KU usually comes with its statements in the spring or autumn.
I think it will be difficult for the committee to manage a clarification before the end of the year, regardless. So this will probably be an issue that concerns the entire parliamentary session, says Karkiainen.
