Uzbekistan made a shock start, with Eldor Shomurodov putting them 1-0 up after ten minutes. After a frantic chase for an equaliser, Congo-Kinshasa's Yoane Wissa levelled from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, and ten minutes later it was 2-1. When Wissa scored his second goal to make it 3-1 in the final minutes, success was a fact.
The last time Congo-Kinshasa played in the World Cup was in 1974 – 52 years ago – now the team is ready for the round of 16 against England.
The night's 3-1 result means that Congo-Kinshasa is currently the best third-placed team in the World Cup, and that the team has thus overtaken Sweden. Wissa's two goals take him to a shared sixth place in the World Cup's scoring league.
Uzbekistan leaves the World Cup with three straight losses in the group stage.
