On Friday, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry repeated that no tariff talks are taking place between the USA and China, and that the US government should stop making people believe that such talks are happening. Something that President Trump is said to have reiterated as recently as Thursday evening Swedish time, reports Bloomberg.

Donald Trump answers yes to a question about whether Xi Jinping has contacted him, reports Bloomberg.

He called. And I don't think it was a sign of weakness on his part, said Trump to Time Magazine in the interview conducted on April 22 and published on Friday.

On the other hand, Trump said that he will not contact Xi unless he hears from him.

In recent days, there have been reports from the USA about a certain thawing in the frosty trade war between the countries.

At the same time, the Chinese leadership announced at a meeting today, attended by, among others, China's President Xi Jinping, that China needs to stimulate domestic consumption to boost the economy, according to AFP.

China's leaders also repeated the message that the country will cooperate with the international community to stop unilateral aggressive tariff measures in international trade.
