Reports indicate that prison management has collapsed and that staff have evacuated wards, locking the doors, the foundation of imprisoned Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi said in a statement on X.
Access to food and basic necessities has been restricted in several wards, and prisoners are having difficulty meeting daily needs, according to the organization HRS, which is monitoring the situation.
The Narges Foundation states that it has received similar reports from several prisons in Iran.
Evin Prison, which has long housed many political prisoners, including the Swedish-Iranian researcher Ahmadreza Djalali, who was sentenced to death, was attacked by Israel during the Twelve-Day War last year.
