Climate change has caused many animal species to change their behavior, and it's not all negative, according to a new study.

An analysis of 73 species, from birds to snakes, confirms that animals are changing their habits as the Earth warms.

But the researchers also discovered that most of the species have fared surprisingly well - populations have been maintained or even increased.

However, there is no guarantee that the species will survive in the long term. Even the most adaptable have limits, says Fred Janzen, one of the researchers behind the study, in a comment.

"We're not saying that the animals have solved the problem. It would be a mistake to assume that everything will always be okay."

The study, conducted by 80 researchers from 18 countries, is published in Nature Communications.
