In March, over 30 percent of the places were empty – and cost the municipality over one million kronor.
Gunnel Persson Westin (S), chairman of the social committee, says she did not know about the sums and feels "powerless" in the situation.
The background is an agreement between the municipality and the care company that runs until 2035 and was signed under a different political administration. The Social Democrats – who were then in opposition – say they did not understand the agreement's content.
Last year, elderly care went back by approximately six million kronor – at the same time as nearly five million went to the care company "for nothing".
In a written response to Arbetet, the company writes that they "follow the agreement set up by the municipality".
