The woman was found dead on January 19 on a beach on K'gari Island (formerly Fraser Island), popular with tourists in the Australian state of Queensland.

She died "from drowning in connection with multiple injuries caused by or as a result of a dingo attack," a Queensland court said.

After the attack, authorities announced that a pack of ten animals suspected of being involved would be euthanized after park rangers discovered "aggressive behavior."

The decision has sparked debate about how to manage the island's dingo population, golden-colored, roaming wild dogs found only in Australia and believed to have arrived in the country 4,000 to 5,000 years ago.
